1、语言生动活泼，充满趣味性。

2、用词准确清晰，避免模棱两可。

3、抽象说明与具体例证相结合。

课文理解

1）Has it ever happened to you?

固定搭配：happen to do

2）Have you ever put your trousers in the washing machine and then remembered there was a large bank note in your back pocket?

3）When you rescued your trousers, did you find the note was whiter than white?

固定搭配：rescue from从...营救；名词形式：come / go to one’s rescue 去救某人

同义词pick up，常形容用船来救、salvage... from 常形容在财务的角度营救

4）People who live in Britain needn't despair when they make mistakes like this(and a lot of people do)!

语法：who充当主语引导定从，修饰和限定人people；when引导时间从句
固定搭配：despair of sb./sth.

语法：and引导并列句，for引导目的状语

9）When they got home, Jane cooked their dinner in the microwave oven and without realizing it, cooked her fiancé's wallet as well.

语法：when引导时间状语，cooked一般过去式时态，强调发生在过去，包括过去的习惯性动作

10）Imagine their dismay when they found a beautifully-cooked wallet and notes turned to ash!
