SYMPTOMS
Grid Infrastructure 12.2 Installation fails during firstnode cluster configuration on Linux 7.4.
The following error appear while run root.sh:
2018-03-08 21:46:58: Executing cmd: /app/oracle/grid/bin/srvctl start nodeapps -n racnode1
2018-03-08 21:47:02: Command output:
PRCR-1013 : Failed to start resource ora.ons
PRCR-1064 : Failed to start resource ora.ons on node racnode1
CRS-2674: Start of ‘ora.ons’ on ‘racnode1’ failed
CLSRSC-180: An error occurred while executing the command ‘srvctl start nodeapps -n racnode1’
CLSRSC-287: FirstNode configuration failed
Multicast is enabled, Doc ID 1348660.1 does not apply in this case.
$ hostname
‘hostname’ command will sometimes return as ‘racnode1-vip’ instead of ‘racnode1’
/var/log/syslog contains entry similar to:
… policy: setting system hostname to ‘
‘ (from address lookup)
CHANGES

CAUSE
Operating System issue with Networkmanager.
As per below reference, the Network Manager service is not currently enabled by default on Red Hat Enterprise Linux installations for Database Server, but enabled by default on Desktop
Refer Doc ID 560043.1 for Oracle Linux. NetworkManager software is not recommended for any Linux Servers.
SOLUTION
At the time of writing this document, proceed with Grid Infrastructure installation after permanently disable the networkmanager service
Verify Network Manager is currently enabled using the chkconfig command.
chkconfig —list NetworkManager
Ensure that the Network Manager service is stopped using the service command.
service NetworkManager stop
Ensure that the Network Manager service is disabled using the chkconfig command.
chkconfig NetworkManager off
